Impeachment edition: Part II

With the US Senate’s vote coming yesterday, most Newspapers ran the story on their Front Page. Most of the heds fell along these ines:

  • Acquitted
  • Not Guilty
  • Trump acquitted
  • Senate acquits Trump
  • President found not guilty

You get the idea …. Here are some examples.

The really big heds:

… because we can make type any size we want to fill the space!
BIG TYPE RILES!

Poster boy:

Mixed message
Do we really need a three-quarter shot of Trump in a coat?

The opinionated:

Once again the Daily News is not pulling any punches!
Do I hear some yawning in the newsroom?
No doubt how they’re feeling about this.
Mobster John Gotti may come back from the dead to reclaim his title!

The Smirk:

“Hey, can you find a photo of Trump smirking? Good. Let’s run it BIG!

The Smirk Part II: What the What!?

Why on Earth did they decide to do this?

Did they mean to do this?

A sly editorial comment or just happenstance?

A teaching moment

Design is great, but I like the story on the local school did a mock trial — at the same time as the Senate was voting! Kudos to The Spokesman-Review for playing this on the Front Page instead of inside next to a jump or on the Local Page.
