Reporter/blogger thinks that this 99-cent iPhone App will kill print newspapers. I don’t think so.

First off, it’s an aggregator for RSS feeds from various sites:

to wit: the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC News, CBS News, BBC America, Yahoo!, the Associated Press, Fox News Channel, NPR, Time, Newsweek, ESPN, Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Seattle Times, the New York Post, the L.A. Daily News, the Washington Times, Business Week and the Huffington Post.

Secondly, people tend to forget that in order for you take advantage of that 99-cent application you need to have at least the $100 iPhone and a monthly service plan.

Even though Apple has sold millions and millions of iPhones, it’s still a small percentage of the general readership. Heck, I’ll even thrown in Palms, Blackberries and other smart phones.

“We” are just not there yet. For the technocratti out there, it may be the solution, but to the rank and file, if they won’t or can’t afford to buy a 50-cent printed paper, they surely won’t shell out for a iPhone/smartphone.
