Print + webcam + microphone = innovation

The July print issue of Popular Science is boasting that it has the “The first interactive 3-D “augmented reality” magazine cover,” and I’m going to have to believe them.

I guess you hold the cover up to a webcam and you’ll see a 3-D landscape with wind turbines… if you blow into your computer’s microphone, you can make the turbines spin faster.

I hope that newspapers can adopt something like this. I imagine that it would work great with graphics, but I suspect that the registration of color would have to right on the money.
